Easiest Apple Pie Ever!

This pie is a mix of recipies from two other blogs and then altered a bit.  The total time to make this is barely beyond the baking time.  The crust takes about 1 minute to make and 1 minute to spread.  During the 10 minutes of “prebaking” of the crust, you can create the pie filling and topping.  apple-crumble-pie-718029_1920

Pie Crust

First, the pie crust.  This crust has only a few ingredients and doesn’t require any of those annoying steps like slicing in chilled butter.

1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 tbsp. water

In a medium bowl, combine flour and salt. Stir in oil and water.

Mix until combined. Then form it into a ball.

Spray your pie pan with nonstick cooking spray.

Push your ball of dough and begin spread it evenly towards the sides.

If you tear the dough or need to apply some excess to an area that is lacking, the dough can be torn and easily blended back in.

To Prebake:

Poke crust with a fork, all over the inside of the crust.
Bake at 400F degrees for about 10-15 minutes or till golden in color.

Dutch Apple Pie

cooked-apples-1102079_1920Second, the pie!  The original recipe asks for 1 tablespoon lemon juice, but I don’t use that.  I hate lemon in my food.  The pie tastes just fine without it.  I also do not peel the apples. The recipe is a tad better if you make that effort but I would never make this pie if I had to do all that work.

5 1/2 cups peeled cored sliced cooking apples

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

3 tablespoons flour

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

3/4 cup flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

1/3 cup butter or 1/3 cup margarine, room temperature

Preheat oven to 375°F.

In a large bowl, mix sliced apples, lemon juice, both sugars, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg.

Pile into crust.

Prepare topping:

In a medium bowl, with a pastry blender or a fork, mix flour, both sugars, and butter until coarsely crumbled.

Sprinkle evenly over apples.

Bake at 375°F for 50 minutes. (If your crust gets too brown early on, cover the edges of the pie crust with tin foil and continue baking)
